THE FIRST HORSE LED VIRTUAL REALITY?
Yesterday The Leadership Whisperers found ourselves creating history in a completely unexpected way.
Coventry University hosted an innovation and enterprise event and Emma’s horses Hermi and Rchi were the stars of the day. Whilst Hermi and Rchi regularly work with us to provide Live Events, they helped take innovation to a whole new level for both us and the virtual reality space as we collaborated with Serious Games International to create the first VR footage of a Horse Assisted Education session.
Hermi happily carried one of 15 cameras so we can see the event from the point of view of a horse! In addition, a further 14 cameras captured the event on a 360 view.
At The Leadership Whisperers, we are always keen to innovate wherever we can. I think we blew the audience’s minds when we explained what we were doing. It certainly blew ours as well.
Innovation is about taking a risk, seizing an opportunity and creating something of value from it.
Innovation and creativity are often squashed because people don’t know how or why, so ideas never get off the ground. Sometimes you have to take a risk and the how and why appear later. When Serious Games International asked us if we were willing to work with them, none of us knew how we might use the footage. We knew that VR filming from a horse was a first so we were delighted to have the chance to work with them to do it. We always look for opportunities to innovate in our business.
Serious Games’ mission is to lead the revolution in 3D training, visualisation and interactive simulation. They are all about innovation and so are we. Bringing our Leadership with Horses Live Events together with a first in virtual reality at an event showcasing innovation seemed an obvious choice to us!
Serious Games now have the technical job of piecing together all the video footage to create a virtual reality world of Leadership with Horses. So far we’ve only seen a tiny amount of footage but it was interesting to see an event from the eyes of the horse. We’ll keep you posted on the results! Here are some photos of the event.
